One of the more exciting house tours I’ve had the pleasure of perusing recently. Full of so many design ideas and gems. Shamefully I knew nothing about pioneering Irish architect Eileen Gray before reading Nicole’s piece, but now I’m hooked (allegedly Corbusier was jealous of her effortless genius and sought to sabotage the serene build with a garish mural!)
One particular detail I love : she designed the cork-topped dining table to muffle noise, so that nearby post-lunch nappers wouldn’t be disturbed by clanking silverware and plates!
