Crazy cover aside, a really interesting look at the history of criminal profiling and forensic junk science dating back to the earliest days of “police forces.” Good read for those of us who occasionally indulge in true crime media - a reminder of the pseudoscience that often is behind policing techniques (including pre-profiling, which is essentially when law enforcement agencies use AI to make predictions about which children are ‘likely’ to become ‘criminal offenders’ based off of demographics like CPS home involvement and truancy).
